2018 marks the bicentenary of the birth of Joshua Abraham Norton, self proclaimed Emperor of the United States. This personal project is based around one of the few photographic portraits taken during his reign. Much more than just a colourful eccentric, during his benevolent reign he used his powers to call for a fairer society and campaign for a bridge between San Francisco and Oakland Bay.
